Birmingham v Wolverhampton Live Stream

At the start of the season, both clubs would probably have expected to be where they are now. Birmingham started the season with Harry Redknapp in charge, but a joke start to the season seen the old veteran moved on from the club. He’s been replaced by Steve Cotterill, who has done an OK job since coming in.

Still, the Blues know that for this Midlands derby they are playing the best team in the division – and will need all the help that they can to get a victory here.

Birmingham City Team News
We expect that Cotterill will name an unchanged side, having got a decent point at Sheffield United last weekend. The team has lacked any kind of stability and consistency all season; if Cotterill wants that to change, he might consider putting the same team out this weekend.

They are, though, a very dull side. Che Adams and Jacques Maghoma are their top scorers with a mere two apiece, while the main striker Lukas Jutkiewicz has a mere one goal so far. Given its nearly December, having 5 goals from your primary front three is a very poor return.

Marc Roberts will likely stay at the back, marshaling a rather porous defense. We expect David Stockdale will return, too, hopefully giving the Blues a bit of solidity between the sticks. Overall, though, there isn’t a great deal of talent on the Birmingham side; this one will need to be earned if they are to get a result here.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News
Wolves, meanwhile, arrive with five wins on the spin and are in great form. They’ve dropped points in just five games so far, and are flying at the top of the table with an impressive 44 points – more than double their rivals here.

Unlike Birmingham, goals are common currency in the Wolves squad. Bonatini has 11, while Jota has 9 and Cavaleiro has 6; they are scoring for fun. Full-back Barry Douglas has been one of the bets in the league while midfield duo Saiss and Neves offer great solidity and calmness in the middle of the park.

While Conor Coady hasn’t been his usual self this season so far, his partners Bennett and Willy Boly have been hugely impressive in their back three formations. They have firepower up-front, calmness in the middle and solidity at the back. Add in John Ruddy, and it’s easy to see why Wolves are flying high at the peak of the Championship – and why we expect them to stay there for the time being.

Head-to-head
A relatively balanced one, this has seen a fairly even set of results in their last few matches together; with 2 wins a piece and 2 draws in their last six. However, Wolves will know that form elsewhere is on their side coming into this high-pressure derby.

Match Expectations
We expect a relatively easy Wolves win. Birmingham isn’t great, with just three wins from their last ten in all competitions. They aren’t exactly solid at the back either, with regular concessions of goals meaning they aren’t really able to rely on solidity at the back. Wolves will have too much for them, we think.
